Day Forty-Three

While the guys put the finishing touches on the outside window boxes and shutters, I was tasked with picking out a front door color and shopping for granite. For the front door, I wanted a soft, robin's egg blue. During my trip to Lowe's, I handed the paint guy my color choice, and he immediately said, "Oooo, the Charleston boo hag color to ward off evil spirits!" Thinking he might be a little off, I played along, replying, "Oh, yeah?"

Well, it turns out he wasn't joking! After a quick Google search, I learned he was right. This light blue-green color is historically used in southern coastal cities like Charleston, SC, and Savannah, GA, to ward off "haints" or evil spirits, a tradition born out of the haunted histories of these cities. Who knew!

I wrapped up the day with a granite shopping trip and decided on a beautiful light slab with a leather-texture finish. I’m so excited to see how it looks in the kitchen!

Quick side note, we were thrileld to see some of the rye seed we put down is finally sprouting!
