Day Forty-Two was all about major exterior and interior upgrades! We started with the installation of our new front door, which features large glass panels to maximize the natural light inside the house. The door installation went smoothly, taking just about 30 minutes to perfect.
Outside, Brian and Eric tackled the porch area, removing the old vinyl siding around the front door and replacing it with a stylish cedar board and batten look. The old white columns that were supporting the porch roof needed an update too. We installed temporary supports, removed the old columns, and replaced them with sturdier 6x6 pressure-treated posts. These are set on anchor brackets raised 1 inch off the ground, helping to prevent water damage and ensure the longevity of the structure.
We then wrapped the new columns in additional cedar boards and added decorative wraps to the tops and bottoms for a refined finish. We didn't quite finish everything—sanding and staining the columns and front entrance siding are up next!
Meanwhile, a gutter company was busy installing seamless Charcoal Grey gutters around the entire perimeter of the house, enhancing both function and aesthetic.
Inside, the tile guy was making great progress in the primary bedroom's shower, laying tile that truly transforms the space.
